Read the owner’s manual or guide to learn more about your car’s stop/start system. Start the engine and let it idle. Note the reading on the gauge. As a general rule of thumb, backpressure should be less than 1.5 psi at idle. Consult a repair manual or repair database to determine the specification for your vehicle. Increase engine speed to about 2,500 rpm and note the reading on the gauge. The oil pressure sensor on some models may prevent your car from starting if it isn’t working correctly. This sensor lets the computer know the correct oil pressure is present. Since the efficient flow of engine oil is required to maintain proper lubrication, a failed sensor or one that is not able to relay data can trigger a fail safe mode I recently purchased a 2020 RAV4 AWD and I love everything about it except for one thing: the auto stop-start. I thought about the feature and I think it seems very plausible that constantly shutting the engine off and back on again is not exactly good for the starter or the amount of oil lubrication going on in the engine. About $50! Or, $1 per week! Or, 1/3 of a gallon per week. One good mashing of the gas pedal, to accelerate on the highway, will burn most of that away. I paid $60,000 for a car because it did NOT have stop/start. I hope your starter or battery don't go bad when you stop at a red light, leaving you stranded in the middle of a road. Basically, turn your battery on only by pressing the start button without the brake, then hold the gas pedal down for 60 seconds, take foot of gas pedal then start car and drive. This will restart the TBA of the car which creates this issue! Try this and let me know. Sent from my iPhone using Bimmerfest. As J.D. Power explains, the act of running your engine without moving doesn’t use too much fuel. However, it still drains that battery and continuously warms the engine. Fortunately, as long as your car is maintained correctly, you don’t have to worry about damaging the drivetrain. For example, if your engine is continuously running on a v78QM5N.
